Apple considering future iPhones, iPads without Qualcomm parts

Apple Inc is designing iPhones and iPads for 2018 that don’t use components from Qualcomm Inc amid an escalating dispute between the companies, according to a person familiar with the matter.
The product plans are in the early stages and may still change, said the person, asking not to be identified because the matter is private. Apple may use modem chips from Intel Corp and MediaTek Inc instead of Qualcomm’s, the person said. Apple made the decision amid a dispute over the iPhone maker’s access to the San Diego-based company’s proprietary technology, said people familiar with the matter.
Apple and Qualcomm have been fighting each other over patent licensing with the iPhone maker accusing the chip designer of abusing its market dominance with high royalties. Qualcomm has fought back and is seeking to stop Apple from making and selling its smartphones in China. An Apple representative said the company doesn’t comment on future products. Apple made the decision about next year’s products because San Diego-based Qualcomm withheld software needed to test chips in prototypes, the Wall Street Journal reported.
“The Qualcomm modem that could be used in the next generation iPhone has already been fully tested and released to Apple,” Qualcomm said in a statement to Bloomberg News. “We are committed to supporting Apple’s new devices consistent with our support of all others in the industry. Qualcomm’s wireless solutions remain the gold standard for premium tier smartphones.”

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Gets a Permanent Price Cut in India

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has received a price drop in India, with Xiaomi evidently looking to make its large display smartphone even more pocketable. The smartphone, originally launched in July, is now available for as low as Rs. 13,999. This represents a Rs. 1,000 discount over Mi Max 2 price for the base variant, which has 32GB storage. On the other hand, the 64GB variant of Mi Max 2 will now cost Rs. 15,999, down from Rs. 16,999. Flipkart is making the deal even sweeter by offering you an exchange discount of up to Rs. 15,000 in return of your existing handset.

You can also opt for the buyback guarantee on the e-commerce site to give you a guaranteed value of the Mi Max 2. Further, you can use your Axis Bank Buzz credit card to get an additional five percent discount.

Xiaomi VP and Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain confirmed the new development through a tweet on Monday. “BIG now costs less! Announcing a permanent price drop of Rs. 1000 on both variants on #MiMax2,” Jain tweeted.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 specifications
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is the successor to the original Mi Max that was unveiled in May. The smartphone has a 6.44-inch IPS display with 1080×1920 pixels (full-HD) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, the handset has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC with an octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and Adreno 506 GPU. There is a 12-megapixel primary camera sensor with f/2.2 aperture and dual-LED flash and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with an f/2.0 aperture lens. The handset packs a 5300mAh battery and runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with MIUI 8.0.

Xiaomi Says It Sold Over 4 Million Smartphones Within a Month

Jain also claimed that Xiaomi was the number one mobile brand on e-commerce websites, Flipkart and Amazon, during their respective Flipkart Big Billion Day and Amazon Great Indian Festival sales. Additionally, the company claimed that Xiaomi sold over 1 million products on its own Mi.com. It’s also worth pointing that Xiaomi conducted its own ‘Diwali with Mi’ sale twice in a month period on the company’s online store. The first sale was announced at the end of September and another during Diwali festival.

The Chinese company previously had announced that it managed to sell more than one million units in just two days during Flipkart and Amazon sales this September. Xiaomi also claimed that the Redmi Note 4 was the top selling smartphone during Flipkart’s Big Billion Day Sale. Additionally, it announced that eight of nine selling smartphones with smartphone category on Amazon India were Xiaomi products.

In September, Xiaomi announced that it shipped over 10 million smartphones across all the regions it operates just last month. The company previously had announced that in roughly three years after entering India, Xiaomi had shipped more than 25 million smartphones in the country. The Chinese company also plans to beat Huawei in terms of smartphone shipment in China by 2020, according to an earlier report.

There are three basic parts that make up any current day web site

The domain name
The web-hosting, or server
The site files themselves
The domain name is much like an entry in a phone book. Computers communicate by using numbers, called IP addresses, to contact each other, much like you use a phone number to dial a specific person’s phone. If you want people to find your business’s phone number, you want to be listed in a phone book. The phone book tells people looking for your phone number “Company A’s Phone number is xxx-xxx-xxxx” just as a domain tells people (i.e. their computers) “domainA.com is hosted on the server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx” Without the domain, you would have to tell your customers “Hey my site is located at 123.456.789.123/~mysite/” instead of “mysite.com” You can see how, without a domain, having a site or hosting is impractical.

The web-hosting or server portion is much like the space that you rent out to have your business in. It’s merely the space itself. It does not include furnishings like shelves for your products, just as the web-hosting account doesn’t include a site for you to sell your products. Luckily, in the web-hosting world, it’s very easy to furnish the space provided by your host, because you can install many framework applications through the Fantastico icon within your cPanel. Without the hosting services, you won’t have a place for your files to reside, so your domain would then become like a disconnected phone number in the phone directory, and your site files would have nowhere to stay.

The site files are what your visitors and potential customers actually see – your products and services. The site files are the same as any other file you normally use, like a .jpg photograph, or .mp3 music file. Though, website files are also .php files or .html files, which are PHP scripts or html pages respectively. The web host (server) knows how to read these files, which explain how the webpage looks or instruct it to do a series of computations. These computations are things like figuring out what blog article it’s supposed to send back to the viewer, or what forum post it’s supposed to send back.

In summary, you have a site visitor, who goes to your domain name, which translates into your server IP address, then the server sends that user your site files, which their browser represents to them as a typical “web-page.” You can see that, without each of these 3 elements, you won’t really have a “web-site.”

How changing your WordPress theme affects your website’s SEO?

Many reported changes in their page ranking immediately after adopting a new WordPress theme. Let’s see how a theme can make or break the SEO of a page.

Handling Site’s SEO – WordPress Theme or SEO Plugins

With an existing theme you could use plugins to take care of SEO, but are you aware of the fact that current themes come already designed to be SEO friendly and are capable of taking care of your site’s SEO to some extent? Some tweaks still needs to be done manually, but they take care of most of the job.

Page Loading Time

Uptime – time taken by your webpage to load – matters a lot for SEO. Some themes are designed such that they load the contents first, and then sidebars and widgets. Other load the whole page in one go. Loading the whole page at once might take longer than loading it in phases. Some themes come built with the latter option. Your target should be themes that load webpage in phases.

De-indexing of Pages

While changing from one theme to another, some themes add no-index to the pages. In such cases, your pages might not show in the search results, affecting SEO adversely.

Coding and HTML

Themes have their own codes and when you change your themes, your page coding changes. Sometimes you might also find that a new URL is created for the same site. These changes affect the way your HTML is read by search engine spiders and alter your ranking.

Changes in Permalinks

While shifting to a new theme, some permalinks get disabled and this is not a good sign for your site. It is crucial to ensure your permalinks stay unchanged and lead to the same pages and posts.

Backup your current settings always so that you could revert to original theme in case things go south. Always check reviews and feedbacks of a theme and run a quick quality-check before adopting.

Same theme might not work well forever. Getting professional help is always better than putting the site’s credential at stake, and a cheap web design that refreshes the look your site while enhancing SEO is always a win-win.
